On April 24 and 25 we had our student annual conference. This year the theme was "The current situation of racism in Guatemala" and our speaker was Jacobo Bolvito, a former student of our program graduated as an Agronomist. He is currently the presidential commissioner against racism in Guatemala and has lots of experience in that theme. For the first time, our activity started on Saturday morning with personal interviews and check deliveries to all our students. While member of our administration were having the interviews the students worked in small groups to discuss and give suggestions to strenghten the communication between students and administration. They also worked to prepare their artistic presentation for our "talent show" on Saturday night. After luch they met again, with a different group of people to share experiences about the projects of community service done during 2009 and finally there was a small workshop given by our director, Miguel Angel Costop, about tips to prepare a good plan for the community service projects. After that, students had free time to organize a small soccer competition and or relax and meet new friends. On Sunday we had our main theme and the students could hear explanation and experiences about the problem of racism. After the speech, the group was divided into small groups of discussion where they shared experiences they have lived or seen about racism. As always, there were very good experiences shared and several recommendations to finish with discrimination. But, let's see our pictures so you have a better idea of what happened...
